A litre of beer is about .60 EUR
Petrol is less than 1 EUR per litre

Pretty much, somethings can be expensive, for example say Cars and Harley Davidson. Alo the local salary here is not equal with what you get in Europe in the beginning anyways. It catches up sooner or later.

What would be a good area to buy some real estate in your part of the world?

By Part of the world you mean South East Asia? Or my immediate vicinity?

    - My neck of the woods it would be in Middle part of the country. More of those types of beaches and a lot cheaper than being close to the national Capital. You can choose from isolated to tourist spots.

    - To be continued I have a plane to catch...

Now where was I before I was rudely interrupted by a drive to the airport only to find out that the plane is 30 minutes delayed... Ok real estate.

    - the Central area of the country would be the safest bet, from mid sized cities and sleepy small towns that cater to foreigners who want to get away from the crowd... and Koreans. One of the areas here offer a beach with sand so fine, it feel like powder in your feet. Boracay, you can buy a 5 bedroom house complete with all the ameneties: Internet, sat TV, underground generators for about P5 million.

    - Bit adventurous you go down to the southern part of the country, the Abu Sayaff and all the bad juju is a days drive away and the rest is actually safe, but due to the bad rep the place is cheap. A gated community in my hometown is P6000 per square meter yep 100 Euros. Little bit more and you can be in a geted community witha Marina for your sail boats. It offers pristine beaches and a robust outdoors area from white water rafting to dirt bike trails.

    - Or finally, if you got bank, you can buy one of the many islands for sale here. Nothings says "I'm a Villain yo" like your own tropical Island.

Down side, infrastructure is not European level. But if thats what you are after I dont think you would be looking at my neck of the woods anyway.

Oh and in case you into that "lost world" adventure type, we got that too.

It so happens I was looking at some smaller islands that are for sale, prices around PHP 50-60 M.
