I love the bar in the evening; I learn so much about Dutch culture and the Netherlands . Had fun last night RSone?

I'm also loving what I see on TV; Toronto 4 Boston 1.

Is there anything specific you'd like to know but never dared ask? This is a good moment to do ask then.

Nah; I find that I learn more by observing because starting off with 0 knowledge about something, I don't know what to ask about. I'm shocked that such a small country has so many differences based on the region people are from. You'd expect that they had pretty homogenous experiences.

Also, with the languages, I pick up small things when I hear people speak even though I've no clue what they're saying. Oh yeah and now it's 5-1

Is the only reason we're sending in the smackdown against Ghaddafi is because he couldn't take care of this **** two weeks ago?

That and pounding civvies with arty and airstrikes. And him being a ****. And because the West can't afford to be even more hated by that general area of the world.

It would seem everybody thought he would be toppled, that didn't happen and he's gaining what he lost even. So....

I think we're actually going to come out more hated.

Can't be. They actually thought this one out. West does air cover, the Arab League handles the things on the ground. No 'crusaders' on the ground and we're on the side of the people seeking freedom. It's not like Irak or Astan where democracy came from USN vessels, it's from within. I honestly think we have a shot at this.

I find the Canadians hilarious though; so desperate to get noticed they're actually willing to come to the table though nobody asked them to and they'll probably be ready to help out when it's too late anyway.

Wondering what i'll do with my saved up leave days.. They're getting paid out regardless(not going to take the bloody hit in salary...) but IDK how many i actually have..

Hell, our PM said the RNLAF is ready to get involved, but seems noone has asked for them yet...

    So are you quitting TNT?

Soldat: true, they may be even worse than the AU but at least on a PR level it's better than having NATO troops. It's ok that Egypt is sending trainers et co on the ground so the Libyans earn their freedom.

See my earlier post about the shenanigans at work earlier today. I'm not going to take the three euro hit in my hourly salary just to stay on as a sort of mailman light(wouldn't be allowed to do registered letters and court letters anymore, and would not be able to sort my mail prior to hitting the streets), so the only options are to leave for three months and then get a new contract in july for however long they'd have me, ostensibly at the same salary i make now, or quit definitively and find another job. Problem is that this one pays quite well for a student job on the side, despite all the bull****.
The possibility of my cashing out the built up leave days and just getting another job is very real though, dependant on how easy it is to find a decent paying one. Had too many ****ty jobs to go back for manual labour if i quit this. Randstad had me hauling 50kg bags in the local Duyvis factory when i was 17(one amongst the menagerie of ****ty jobs the agency 'hooked me up' with)

Yeah, that's why I asked. Sucks, though dude. I'm graduating in a month and I've either got no answer or a negative answer.

    Best of luck.

As for the RNLAF, the difference is that Canada is desperately trying to get noticed as a 'global' power since the current Guv is facing possible elections so they need to bolster their standing.

Funniest student job I ever had was in cleaning. Police building in Amstelveen. I got paid for 4 hours but never worked for more than 2 and a half..Also, the people in the building were funny as all hell and even cleaned their own desk...True revelation to me at the time because civil servants tend to be total pigs. lol

Friend of mine in high school had a cleaners' job in a elderly home IIRC. He always said it paid quite well, but you had to be able to handle the 'unique' conditions that sometimes arose when you worked in a elderly home.
