Kap, I don't know your condition, have you tried physiotherapy?
Maybe the docs are hesitant about prescribing harsh meds because of the potential negative affects on your organs.
Didn't know you were a Dr... Yes thanks for asking the obvious, I have gone to PT for 4 months and finished that in October. I have done A LOT of things for it with little success. It screws up everything in my life. From civilian job to the military. And nearly all drugs have negative downside on organs. I am a rather healthy young person, so the denial for PRN narcotic medication is retarded.
If I don't get them now, I will get them in the future anyways when I am in worse condition. But when quality of life is poor now the last thing as a Dr. is denying someone a way to improve their quality of life. Which is #1 no-no in the medical world.
My lower spine is mashed potatoes. I have problems with L3 L4 L5 and S1. Narrowed discs, bulging discs, herniated discs. Numbness in my legs usually, or sharp shooting pain to both of them.
I have DDD, which you normally don't get until around age 60-70 or later... I'm far from that. Military service expedited the process pretty quick.
When I walk it can become a guessing game.
I had microdiscectomy surgery about 3 years ago and I have never felt better. The specialist told me that I would need the surgery again at some stage in my life in another area, but that it would never occur again in the same spot. Similar conditions to you, numbness, excruciating pain down my left leg, could not sit or stand for any long period of time, drugs only dulled the pain a little, physio did nothing to alleviate the pain either.
My surgeon also stated that a lot of his common patients were ex defence force.
I'm sure your guy is onto it, but just in case they are not![]()
Microsurgery? Another spot?
He's talking about his disfunctional organ.
This has been going on for over 3 years for myself. Extremely annoying. They want to do cortisone shots, but I declined that ****. Physio didn't do anything for me either, other than waste taxpayers money. And for the longest time, my tw4t of a resident Dr. was telling me that it was just muscular pain... Muscle pain goes away eventually, it has for me anyways. But this hasn't so she finally ordered an MRI and basically was like "oops". So yeah, I hate her a lot at the moment.
Hahahahah my GP said the same thing about it being muscular pain, which is why he sent me to the physio in the first place. I knew it was more serious than that so I got the MRI's and Xrays and got a referral for surgery straight away. Otherwise I probably would have had it for ages as well. It's the worst ****ing feeling in the world and I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy.
In terms of cortisone injections, I got one on my knee years ago (football injury) and haven;t had a problem with that knee since. I know its only temporary though and not even guaranteed to work in the first place so I would be hesitant about getting it done again in a hurry.
That's brutal.
Great season for the Jayhawks, they weren't supposed to win the Big 12, weren't supposed to win their region and were't supposed to be there tonight. Coach Self is a god and Coach Cal isn't a coach.
She graduates soon so then she will be replaced by a real doctor, hopefully he/she isn't as stupid as she is... Otherwise I will be requesting a new doctor.
I refuse to get it, a friend of mine just got it done to his back and it lasted for 4 days before his back returned to its regular, sh1tty self.
