I wasnt having a sook about how heavy it was, was just explaining it was a heavy pig of a weapon. But you get a nice sling so its all good. Being part of the gun group in the platoon is what I want, but all that is a long way away.

Yup, we had one in every section. It's a bitch to fire from your shoulder in the kneeling position - with our long grass you'd never see anything from ****e - fortunately I'm a big lad, which is probably why I had to carry the thing in the first place.

Yeah mate, we have the F88 Steyr for individual, F89 Minimi (pretty much same as your SAW) and the MAG 7.62 which we are moving to squad level to combat the new threats of the modern day battlefield.

They still use those rifles. The basic infantry version's called the R4, there's a carbine for medics, parabats & squirrels called the R5 and an even shorter version called the R6, which I haven't seen anyone other than private security companies using.
