One of the best books I have ever read, it was a tough read for sure. Luttrell is a testament to the advanced rigorous training he endured that helped him escape and evade for days, not to mention his blatant will to live.

I dont know whenever I have a bad day I think about this guy being hunted by the taliban in the pitch black up and down the hindu kush.

i agree 100%. this book so far has helped me (like other written military perspectives) to help me realize how much better I am, and maybe always will be (crossing fingers, praying to jesus/allah/buddha, knocking on wood) compared to what that guy went through.

i love the book. my respect for men of his caliber has definitely been a humbling experience (don't mean to sound cheesy, but it's true).

I have the audio book and it's amasing ! The part when he describes the death of the rescue crew was one of the most hardest things I listened to...
    Those men are heroes!

Dont want to come off as cocky but I have trained both Marcus and his brother when they were in the same platoon, just before Marcus got out. Great guys great family. I was told the story first hand to my face from the source himself and even I was in awe!! The book is great but it pales in comparison to hearing the story from the man himself.

I read the book, it was amazing that he was able to survive. It felt like I was reading a hollywood produced story because it was just so crazy. I have a helluva lot of respect for that guy and all the people who are over there putting their lives on the line every day.

I'm in half-hippie land here in colorado and I can't find Lone Survivor in a book store.

Tomorrow I go to my local chain coffee guzzling bookstore and wring some malnourished hippie arse and force them to stock the book.

    will update.

I have not spoke to him in quite a while actually. He has the tour where he speaks and the negotiations/production of the movie keeps him a very busy man. My relationship was more of an instructor/student type.
