I have seen two instances where K-9's have spun up on friendlies. One was a SWAT team member and the other was a narcotics officer. Both instances were search warrants and neither the team guy or the investigator were antagonistic towards the dog. You can say they were poorly trained, but after being around K-9's and handlers a good bit over the past 10 years, I think a choke collar is pretty common for a working dog. They are not your normal household pet, nor should they be treated as such.

    this....

not sure if its the same in the US forces, but all dogs in the UK forces actually have an NSN.....

as has been said, they are tools of the trade not pets.

    sorry....... off topic.

This may have been addressed, but in case it has not, the collar is a pinch collar not a spike collar. While it may appear to be spiked it is not, and if you look at the dogs demeanor you can tell that it is no bothering him/her.

My Wife both have had Rotts and we used pinch collars..... If it were barbaric I would not use them.....

Just to add, pinch collars were only used while training. When they were older they were no longer used, and a normal collar took over. Caesar, one of my Wifes Rotts was 150lbs/10 stone in his prime, so he was a big boy, but good with it. Just had to make sure you did not ignore him, or he would p!ss on your pile of dirty washing or on the bed.......I don't think he had a preference.......

Blutarsky and LokisFeuer, you need to simmer down and refrain from commenting about things you obviously don't know much about. Why the **** would you automatically assume that a SEAL doghandler doesn't know what he is doing? It seems like every thread on this forum has some chairborne commando or other sharing his pearls of wisdom, and frankly it has gotten beyond annoying.

Bottom line, post pictures or STFU.
