I have all the Total War series. I uninstalled ETW sometime ago, although I have all the DLC's too. It had issues, along with driver issues at the time. Was all that fixed up ? I would reinstall if it was all fixed.
I have MTW with Kingdoms and NTW w/ all DLCs installed though. The new Shogun 2 looks splendid well.
I tried Call of Warhammer once, but messed up the installation. After I had managed to get Total War running again, all religions were replaced by the Warhammer ones. So the Pope was now the head of the "Empire Pantheon" and the Saracens worshiped "Mork and Gork"
Anyone of the Stainless steel players has issues with gunpowder units, too? I had a game running with the Holy Roman Empire and had already reached 1300, but still couldn't recruit and bombards. Well, I could build the recruiting facilities for them and Cannon Towers, but no units.
How are the system requirements as apposed to Fallout 3?
I'm liking the more upbeat colour pallet.
The game runs a lot worse, I could max Fallout 3 and get around 50-60 fps, with New Vegas I was getting strange fps jumps from 60-20 once I stepped outside. It must be a bug or something. People on other forums have been reporting the same problem. Btw from the little I have played, the music and voice acting are WAY better, and locations make more "sense", like the starting town actually feels like a town.
Are the graphics any better with FOLV ?
The reviews are saying its basically stuck in a time warp from two years ago, but if you loved the original you will love it
I loved the original. Especially when the likes of FOOK2 dropped. The new HC mode sounds like the shiznit.
EurogamerThe Bear Grylls approach proves essential in Hardcore Mode, perhaps the most striking and beneficial addition to the game. Activated at the start, it plays up the survival aspect by introducing numerous realistic variables to your game. You need to eat, drink and sleep: hunger, thirst and sleep deprivation will hinder, disorient and eventually kill you if you don't keep on top of them. Ammo has weight in Hardcore Mode, so you can't merrily stuff your pockets with every shell and bullet you find. Efficient inventory planning soon becomes a pressing requirement.
Most importantly, healing items no longer instantly top up your health, but fix you over time, forcing you to be much more tactical in your confrontations. Crippled limbs must be fixed using the rare Doctor's Bag item or patched up by an actual doctor. You can't simply dash in and spam the hotkey for stimpacks during a fight, but have to really think about how you can take down, say, a cellar full of hulking Nightkin without being squished into a fine paste.
It's a brilliant decision, and one that fits perfectly with the aesthetic of the game, forcing you to fully engage with its radiation-scorched landscape. Before, food and water were simply optional health pick-me-ups. Now they form a balancing act, as you weigh up the benefits of curing dehydration sickness with the radiation poisoning you'll get from slurping out of a manky old sink. It's also great to see an extra layer of difficulty that doesn't rely on simply making your enemies bulletproof (yes, Mass Effect, that means you) but instead forces you to play smarter, rather than harder.
FPS drops sounds like an optimisation issue though. Looks like a quick patch will be needed.

I think the graphics are about the same, maybe some small improvements. Animations have definitely been improved in some areas. What makes NV look better is the way the landscape is laid out. They made it feel like a more realistic world. I also think this game will be far longer than Fallout 3. There's supposed to be like 27 main quests and 70 side quests. I've been playing for about two hours and I haven't even left the starting town. Gun nuts are going to love the game, you can upgrade your weapons with all different kinds of attachments and you can use different types of ammo. Like in the general store I just saw regular 9mm, 9mm +P, and 9mm hollowpoint.
This game was made by some of the original Fallout developers from Fallout 1+2 so it has a lot more RPG aspects and reliance on stats. I've even run into the first Fallout 2 reference: using a shovel to plunder graves.
I even get slowdowns on the 360 version. I have a brand new xbox (bought it last week, 4gb version). I was getting slow downs from the start so I know it is not overheating. Really hope they address this. I wonder if it is a widespread problem as I cannot imagine the developers releasing a game that has frame rate isses like this.
In New Vegas I'm getting great frames. And it auto-configured to max settings on everything. Not bad for a 6 year old PC.
