Didn't know that transport tycoon has a open source version available. I played original TTD about 10 years ago, but I thought that I remember everything. Not really - just connected iron ore mine with a coal powerplant.
How is that for an answerDid anyone else play as a race of space thiefs? I stole everything with my salvagecorvettes that wasnt bolted down. The best part was to own 8 multiionfrigats from those nebuladwellers
- Here i tried to cramp all of my fleet in a small enough area to make the screenshot so it is hardly recognizeable what i have. More importantly i have 153 frigates (of them 35 assault frigates, 11 support frigates, 79 ion frigates, 9 ion array frigates and 19 multi-beam frigates - these are the kadeshi ion frigates), 19 destroyers (15 regular and 4 missile destroyers), 4 heavy cruisers and 5 carriers.
- This is my primary strike group.
- A view from my frigate squadron. Usually when i replay the last mission i just order all of my frigates to assume sphere formation around my mothership and guard it and then rush with my destroyer and heavy cruiser group straigth to the taiidan emperor.
As far as salvaging goes i used to waste hours to finish missions that could be finished in about half and hour just because i chased all the enemy ships to capture rather than destroy them. I've seen much more inspiring salvage operations though - for example i never manager to capture the turanic missile corvette and fighters from the third mission and i only managed to capture several kadeshi swarmers while i once saw a screenshot of about 300 captured kadeshi swarmers.

Yes the game was great back then. I played it a lot... and it was only around 5MB I think. I always wondered why they did use a CD instead of floppies for that game =)
maybe I should get TTD again. There also is a version for iOS or Android I think (or was it Industry Giant? can't remember). Sadly the icons etc were all too tiny to play it on a small touchscreen - even with a tablet pc

Question about Homeworld 2, I have a Asus 9400gts 1gb graphics card, yet when yet when I tried playing HW2 I got a message saying my drivers were obsolete and I had to switch to PCI (I think) mode. The graphics were so poor when I played it, it looked like a Spectrum era game. Yet Empire Total War plays fine on Ultra settings!!!
Any help would be appreciated because I love space RTS

Are you able to ignore (close the box or whatever) the "drivers are obsolete" message and continue playing without switching to PCI? When I Googled your problem that seemed to be a solution for people playing on Windows Vista and 7.Originally Posted by Counsellor
Yeah but the problem is that for some reason the ships appear really poor quality, extreme pixels and very very poor effects. I have tried all of the various settings but nothing improves it. shame because I really was looking forward to playing it. I'm running Vista if that helps. I also have 4 GB ram and a dual core processor. Like I said, Empire TW runs fine on ultra so I fail to see why my PC can't run such an old game.
I'm playing Homeworld 2 on an Nvidia Quadro NVS140m which is a pretty old laptop card. Every time i start the game i get a message that Homeworld has detected obsolete video drivers but i ignore it and Homeworld 2 works just fine. I'm on linux though and also i have no option to switch to pci
I remember getting an i740 adapter just for the Homeworld alone. It was also one of the very few games supporting all available mainstream renderers - software, Glide, Direct3D and OpenGL.
