Been trying to progress in the Wargame European Escalation single player campaigns after a long time playing only MP. The first mission in the Dabowski's Mazurka campaign, Poland has not yet been lost, is aggrevating as hell. It might be my NATO experience throwing a spanner in the works, but it seems that WARPAC forces in this mission are just as vulnerable to low level unit spam as NATO. Even when I have masses of cheap units like base T-55's and BMP-1's, I get spammed and overwhelmed by a seemingly endless amount Skots + dismounts and masses of cheap ATGM units.
If I go straight down the main road, the offensive kinda falters half way down the map, while I keep getting nailed from the east by units coming from the AI's spawn points on the side of the map. Tried doing al ligthning raid with either ground vehicles or Mi-24's, which ended in either getting killed by units in the woods or the AA surrounding the AI's CP vehicles there.
You can use one of the Mi-24's to link up with the Polish loyalist forces at the other end of the map(one of the objectives) but when you do, you get command of those units as well, thus forcing you to split your attention between two forces getting zerg rushed by the Polish insurgents, complicated by the need of keeping your loyalist buddies' CP vehicle alive, even though they are surrounded on all sides... I reckon I might take my force east next time and push up through the forest there, see if that works, because everything i've tried so far ends up FUBAR.
Advance on the left side of the river, there is much less resistance and you won't get "sandwiched" from the East and the West if you go up through the middle. I placed an advanced guard at the northern bridges, but the rest of my forces moved up on the left side. I used ATGM and tanks to outflank the advancing Polish vehicles from the other side of the river and desperately rushed forward to neutralize the enemy reinforcement zones on the upper left of the map. If you can take them out and replace one of them with your own Command vehicle, it gets much easier. But tbh, if I remember correctly, I made my very own little Communist Alamo out of the mission. I just threw everything I had into the Objective zone and waited for the countdown to end. It was still a pretty close game.
Edit: Oh, before I forget: I played the mission before the all those balancing patches. I don't know how it would work out today
