I haz a question: I've been playing a few Napoleon:Total War games, playing with the Dutch and then the Prussians against the British(mainly because Corrupt keeps insisting on using them) and for some reason whenever our lines got really close together, accompanied by the inevitable cavalry swooping from the flanks, the AI would square some of his companies, even when the cavalry was in a fight with another company some distance away. Obviously in trying to move to to square, they get mowed down by my infantry, and at the very least give my troops precious seconds to reload... Any idea on why it does this? Seems to me that the infantry companies at that point needed to be more afraid of the opposite infantry barely a hundred meters away...

Being in square gives a morale boost, I think it's a glitch. It grants a "superior local force" bonus or something. So if his troops are wavering they AI will often put them in squares to boost their morale. Don't do it, it just results in them being a great target for both infantry in lines and artillary and they get critically reduced firepower. You're better off either bayonet charging, or pulling them out of the thick of the fight.

Also you're welcome to try the British and discover its my superior tactics that ensure victory

Because the gunpowder games have horrible AI. I would sometimes take out the entire enemy army with just 2-4 of my units., munching at their lines from the flanks, while they are too afraid to turn to me because my main army is still standing across from them. No fun at all.

x2. If you just keep a solid battle line, the AI does 80% of the work for you by having his units all milling around in musket range of your line infantry.

^Why I asked the question. The AI moved his companies(or this particular company in particular) THIS close to my units, then decides to move them into a square.....

Yeah its a morale boost. If you look at the morale bars on the other two units they're orange or red. One in square is green despite taking just as much of a beating. The AI is programmed to try and keep his troops morale high and stop them running, so it forms squares. In practice this just gets them pounded by musket fire and unable to respond, but the AI is stupid.

Hey, look!! It's the MD-97LC carbine, expect this rifle to drop its magazine randomly, at the least convenient moment possible.

^ Good stuff. I haven't played a decent rally game in a long time.

And Max Payne 3 looks slick, the first two were great and I still play them from time to time on my old desktop.

Since I'm almost at PS 10, it's the only logical result.
