I'm debating who to join - including the inner circle of the companions.

Joining the Circle has some interesting gameplay implications, which are reversible, but it isn't easy.

    Obligatory Dragonsreach borealis pic

The Axe of Whiterun and the Nordic War Frost Axe(can't remember what it's actually called, but it has a frost effect)
Monument to Gjukar. No idea why this is there or who Gjukar is...

Orcish Axe of Cowardice. It's lolz, but because the enemy keeps running away, actually killing them can be hard.

Set of Forsworn armour I plucked off of a body after I waded through their camp, which I found by accident, as I was on the road towards the Falkreath area.

    Some sort of snow/frost troll?

Found this bitch in a cave underneath the Forsworn camp.

Stabbing said bitch in the head.

Whiterun plains from high up in the mountains.

The dragons are disappointing and annoying, I saw someone call them "the cliff racers of Skyrim" which sounds about right. And yeah the interface sucks, if you're playing the PC version make sure to disable the 360 controller in options, supposedly it interferes with mouse clicks.

The map is massive. I've been playing 30 hours now and I've only scratched the surface. I haven't even seen the western half of the map yet, or the far eastern.

I would guess it's maybe a little bigger than Oblivion, but smaller than Morrowind. The world is so well designed that it feels huge though.

Very true. I've gotten used to the menus, but not because they're designed well. I think the menus are the clearest indication you have that this game was designed in no small part for consoled. I bet with a 360 or PS3 controller, the menus would be easier to use.

Wake me up when someone mods them.
