I played Freelancer when it was released and when I finished the last mission the game didn't end by itself, it continued on and allowed you to the rest of the universe. Pretty unique experience though.

I enjoyed it, but it was a bit disappointing to me. I would have preferred more technical space combat like StarLancer that came before it. Then again, I really would have preferred that they'd done as they originally intended and made StarLancer into a trilogy. Of course, the death of space combat sims put that idea out the window.

True that. A Starlancer trilogy would have been great. I wouldn't really say that space combat sims are dying. Ofcourse they have been overshadowed by others games but there are still a lot of players who are into this kind of stuff. And a lot of good sims out there.

I've been chugging through it. I thought the concept looked interesting but to tell the truth, its become rather boring. Fight, run away, fight, run away, so on, so forth. I really need a game thats somewhere in between Freelancer and X3.

My thoughts exactly. Though it has an interesting story line the repetitive game play sucks the fun out of it.

Dude, the best way to play that game is modded. I have this mod called Discovery 4.83 that adds a buttload of stuff to the game (lots of ships including captial ships, new systems, captial ship patrols, etc. etc.) . Right now, for instance, my SP character is flying around in a Liberty Battleship and swatting enemy ships like flies. If more people had the mod, i was thinking of starting an MP game.

Thats what I do too. Raw FL is too boring to play. I played with Discovery mod too, although it was an earlier version. Haven't seen the latest one yet. MP game kicks ass. If we get enough people at mp.net we can make our own clan.

it was fun imo - even though the free trading and stuff wasn't very interesting the story was nice.

yeah Dark Star One is o.k. The only bad thing about this game is you are stuck with one ship which sucks. You can ofcourse upgrade the ship etc but it not the same as flying different ships. And the guy sounds and looks like a pansy.
