The trick is to load your squads up on ammo before exiting your vehicles using the aquire button (the Javelin ATGM is pretty awesome against enemies dug into buildings), and then surpress the hell out of everything before moving your infantry into the open. More ammo = more surpression = you will win. Also your guys spot a lot better if you use cover arcs to cover certian areas - especially vehicles.

Use real life tactics. Use support elements in overwatch positions, use smoke to mask movements across danger zones, and surpress suspected and known enemy positions (using area fire). Never attack via the most obvious avenue of approach. There is nothing worse than losing an entire squad + stryker to a VBIED when you could have just breached through a wall somewhere else.

Despite modern U.S. military mantra about attacking with speed to maintain momentum, there is no real element of surprise or momentum in this game. Be patient and deliberate. Modern weapons are extremely lethal and the sh*t can hit the fan real fast if you're not careful. A lot of maps in the game are designed to suck you in to Urban battles, where you lose the advantage that U.S. forces have, and its pretty much back to basics. Don't forget even your tanks can be taken out by a well placed RPG and trust me, that really hurts.
What I do is usally unmount my men from the stryker's, then move them in a line with the strykers in "slow" mode towards the enemy ... works well if you have taken out machine gunners and rpg gunners in the squad... Hate it when I don't see a squad tho, then those strykers are gone... How you use the Javelin? I couldn't work it out.

I loved Americas Army, but I am on a Mac, and when I moved to the Intel from power PC that was the end of AA. I really got into BF2142, really enjoyed the vehicles and team playing. I have gotten very good at this game. I like trying out tactics, and ambushes.

When you area fire a building your squad will use all ammo at their disposal, including Javelins. You need to aquire one from your IFV or BFV first though by using the aquire button.

You can also split your squad into an AT team and use them independanly with the area fire command if you dont want your entire squad lighting up at the target building.

The problem is that modes like "slow" leave you vulnerable to attack. As a rule of thumb, the two movement orders you should be using if in combat are "hunt" and "assault."

Here's how I usually dealt with MOUT when I used to play; have your squad advance on one of the sides of the street in "hunt" with a stryker/bradley/abrams/etc. following close behind (also in "hunt"). If you do get engaged by enemies, your squad will be able to take cover and fire back, while your vehicle will be able to provide fire support. Having your vehicle behind the squads also makes it a litter harder for anyone with an rpg to hit you (you're kinda screwed if they have any advanced ATGMs though). Anyways, at the next turn you should move your squad to the closest building so they can have better cover while firing and at the same time position the vehicle if you can so it can more effective at pinning down the enemy squad. Once you are sure that the enemy squad is pinned, command your squad to assault the building that the enemy soldiers are hiding in. Also, if you're still worried about getting attacked or ambushed while storming the building, have your vehicle deploy smoke so your squad's movement can be hidden.

Also, if you use area fire on the first floor combined with assault, or a movement order (such as fast to get across a street) combined with area fire on the first floor, your men will grenade and shoot up the building as they are entering.

This is the most effective way of gaining entry into buildings I have found, but it does chew up a bit of ammo in the process. This way you can assault buildings with no casualties, because as the U.S. even one casualty per building hurts quite a bit in the end.

I find moving vehicles up close to buildings to pop and drop my troops usually ends up with the vehicle immobilized from enemy grenades. In 1.08 tactical infantry movement is a lot improved and with the right covered avenues of approach and proper supporting fires you can usually gain footholds in target areas without too much pain.

Battlestations: Midway (for PC and Xbox 360).

I found it (playing on Xbox 360) to be great fun - a welcome change from the norm! It's thrilling when you first let loose ten 14 in guns!

Just recently a sequel, Battlestations: Pacific, has been announced!

yeah and the graphics look amazing. i recomend battlestations for the gameplay, but a warning, it has the worst cutscenes ever, EVER.
