I will say this: DEAD SPACE IS THE GREATEST GAME EVER!
I'm not huge into survival horror, but I've loved EVERY minute I've played of it.
It's like Bioshock+Gears of War+Alien. That's not totally fair though because it has no comparisons!
The story is compelling, the combat is engaging and dynamic, and the environments are visually stunning.
The immersion is unparalleled. There's no visible HUD and no cut scenes where you lose control of your character. From the moment the game starts, you definitely feel an attachment to the character that's rarely seen in games.
On top of that, the animation for Isaac is so fluid and realistic, it's unbelievable! As you become wounded, your character's gait becomes visibly worse and you can hear his pained breathing.
DID I MENTION THERE ARE SEQUENCES IN OUTSIDE THE HULL AND IN ZERO GRAVITY?
The parts in space are amazing! There's no sound besides your breathing so you can't hear the necromorphs moving around.
Add zero gravity and you have a formula for awesome! Your boots are magnetic and adhere to the hull, so you won't be flying off into space, but you can jump to any visible surface in any direction. Being able to jump to walls and ceilings in quick sequence may be a little disorienting, but it's very cool. It's also awesome to see the necromorphs as they claw their way along the walls and jump at you. AWESOME!
Everything about this game is great. I saw a lot of reviews in the 8 range, but I don't think that's fair. THIS IS A NEW BREED OF SURVIVAL HORROR!
For those of you that enjoy shooters and have stayed away from games like Silent Hill and Resident Evil, now is your time to get into the genre.
This game is a MUST HAVE in any collection.
