Word. I built one about two months ago. Thing friggin' screams through whatever you put in front of it, and it probably cost half as much to build compared to if I bought an equivalent machine off the shelf. Of course, everyone looks at me like I'm crazy when they see this giant desktop with industrial-sized exhaust fans sitting in my barracks room.

You get extreme cool points, mine is the same way, but just a little bit on the older end. I'll probably build a new one soon when this one becomes inefficient.

Ahhh the joys of building computers! And yes, I forgot to mention you save a lot of money too building your own. (as you said)

Not to derail thread but what type of case do you have?

Thermaltake Element G. Really nice case. Came with an 850W modular PSU and 200mm front/230mm side intakes, and 140mm rear/200mm top exhaust. Also had enough room to fit a GTX480 with no issues (although the oversized CPU heatsink I bought didn't fit--pressed into the top exhaust fan). Costs about $180 with the PSU from Newegg.

My general rule of thumb for the last 3 machines has been to scope out Alienware spec, buy it OEM, and build it myself.

    Saved a small fortune, literally.

I honestly know nothing about good or bad social aspects of an MMO since this the only MMO I've ever played and am still enjoying despite being only beta. But yeah, it's BETA. As a DC comics fan, it gives me what I want - patrolling and exploring a full sized virtual version of Gotham and Metropolis. As for social aspects, it lets me team up with other players and even at this beta stage it lets me form a league/guild and join groups. There are instance missions that randomly team you up with other players who have queued up for the same mission and they seem to work pretty fine. Now having said that, I would like for there to be either a lifetime sub or some kind of free to play deal where you only pay for expansions and DLCs.

Nice character btw! Are you on the PVP or PVE server?

Stumbled upon a game called 'Defcon, Everybody Dies'. Its rather, hrm, shall we say foreboding. Global Thermonuclear war. The object is to lose the least.

    I'll remember that next time.

Playing on the combat patrol mode on Arma 2 BAF.
You can be a KSK team or a British team. Wander round the map on a patrol and react to downed helos, enemy ambushes, requests to take out high value targets etc as they appear. You can do 1/2 hour to 2 hour patrols which is cool.

Im on the PvE server, I actually didn't even know you could play a villain at first, I'll probably make one on the PvP server to see how it is. The games actually not that bad except for a lot of random crashes, but I think my next MMO will be Guild Wars 2 or Rift.

Just looked for your case, that is pretty slick. I use an Antec Twelve Hundred

There is nothing wrong with CMN's advice, but a word of warning, throwing together a whole bunch of different components may give you a fast computer, but no guarantee of a stable one.

There are plenty of small stores (IE not Dell, HP etc) that will still build you a ridiculously cheap computer, give you a warranty, and compatibility check all the different components for you.
