Westwood Studios redux. Also Total War is published by Sega not EA. Atleast Sega is somewhat a respectful company.
You're right. In fact the game's music composer even admits DA2 was a rush job because EA wanted to capitalize on the success of Origins

Also one of the main designers who was with Bioware ever since Baldur's Gate left the company when he realized what direction DA2 was going.

I'm 20 hours in, now. i assume, somewhere in the middle of the game.
It's not a bad game. on it's own it's a pretty good game, the problem is that people were expecting Dragon Age 2 and instead got Dragon Age: Mass Effect.
I kind of like Mass Effect, but for that i'll wait for ME 3. and i was expecting something different from DA 2.
Also, while i understand Bioware wanting to focus the game on one city, they did use it as an excuse to reuse the same maps over and over again. they could have easily created more varried maps outside the city.
There is also the issue of the plot, that is, 20 hours into the game, there still isn't a plot. you are doing quests, raising your status and sinking into the politics of the city, but that's about it.
However, in my opinion, the combat is fun, the quests are interesting, you have a number of choices which effect how the game develops and the voice acting is good.
I've played now for a while as well - it's a good game - still much better than your average game.
I like the changes for combat, level/skill system and especially for inventory.
What I don't like are many generic quests in generic locations - that's what I hated about Mass Effect 1 as well.
What I dislike most is that you don't seem to be able to talk your way out of combat most of the times - this was much better in other Bioware games - the dialog choices affect your party members friendship at best but nothing else.
Your choices rarely make any kind of significant difference apart from very few situations where it seems forced.
In fact by reloading savegames and trying again I've spotted some choices which are completely identical (same things said, same things done, same outcome).
That's a big letdown for a BioWare game and kinda worries me about Mass Effect 3 also losing substance in comparison to ME2.
That all said - I still think DA2 will be one of the better games this year and it's fun to play.
At the very least the funny conversations between interesting characters are back again.![]()

I have to admit, that I have never played Mass Effect. Do you mean DA2 is more action and less RPG?
Some aspects I loved about DA:
- The interaction between the various characters. Morrigan vs. Allister or Lilliana for example was always a great laugh
- the tactical combat system (flanking, crowd control etc.) with the cool deathblow animation as a nice gimmick
- the intense and exciting story line and the awesome made characters
- the possibility to equip and skill every one of your party members individually and in a different way each time you start a new game
- endless hours of tense gaming with the "WTF?! Where's the sun? Why is it 1 a.m. already?!" moments
Which one of these aspects are still there? I have read that it is not possible any longer to equip and skill your individual party members? Is that correct?
Matter a fact, EA is going to revamped the Command & Conquer series for 2011/2012 date. Let see how this works out since C&C 4 proved to be not good.

Funny dialogs between party members are there.
Combat system was imroved imo - it feels like the characters are much more mobile and enemies come in higher numbers - there are skills for crowd control, flanking etc and they are pretty useful -but their necessity depends on the difficulty level you choose.
Combat feels more fast paced and I feel it's most fun to just control your own character and let the AI control your teammates (there is a pause function to giver individual orders if you like that though).
Characters are good imo, story not bad so far but I spend most of my time with side quests so far.
You can level your companions the same way you level up yourself - spend points on skills and attributes.
You can't equip armor on your companions anymore (boots, gloves, helmet, chest armor) but can equip weapons and accessories (weapons, two rings, a belt and an amulet) - but you'll find or can buy companion armor sets during the game.
That means less micromanagement for companions - your own character still can be equipped in detail.
I've spent quite a bit of time and had fun without getting bored even for longer periods at a time.
Actually most of the EULA's won't hold up in court. HE paid for a product and is now being prevented from using it. There was a case in the US(Which im trying to find right now) that said if you buy a product you own the product and cannot be stopped from using the product.
