Slovenian army

Slovenia is to small for military hardware with large crews. Wheter are tanks artilery or other systems. So we should not buy tanks with 4 crew instrad of a 3. This howitzers we have now are already absolete. As soon budget will alow new small crew (2 or 3 soldiers max.) self propeled artillery sistems will be acquired. The M-84 not the T-84, were upgraded with new SUV and some of them also with the soft kill self defence systems. What we urgently need is adtitional armour upgrade.

Everything you write is not going to happen in next 20-30 years. Only if with self propelled artillery you mean Svaruns with NEMO systems or the national security situation will dramaticly change.

Actually, on a long-term Artillery is going to develope with new, self-propelled howitzers. 460th Artillery Battalion is also going to consist completely of professional soldiers.

Tanks are going to be completely withdrawn from service when they reach end of their life-time. That is planned for year 2016 (what decision will be made in the future regarding life-time, I don't know).

SEP has hk-417, or I am mistaken??
