I have the same watch as Royal and also wear G-Shock..........never had any problems with the Omega......but G-Shocks are a pain in the bum. The straps keep getting ripped off........I've got one lying in Canungra somewhere.....and one came off last weekend on Ex.

I got my Seamaster Automatic 2531.80 2nd hand just serviced 5 years ago and it keeps time perfectly.

I'm a fan of the Speedmaster moonwatch as well. I might keep my eye out for one of those someday 2nd hand if cheap enough. But I can only wear one at a time.

And I'd be happy to wear my Seamaster until I kark it.

I've had a big arse Gshock DW8200 frogman since 1999, I've never ripped it off of it's band. I wouldn't like to put my newer ones through the same treatment though.

Same here never had a problem with the Gshock strap in 15 years, I've had the housing on the watch fall apart, battery problems but the strap always intact.

I moved to the Suunto X-lander military edition in 2010 and love it deeply.

For me it's been pretty problematic on bands.

5-6 broken bands on two 3 watches.

Just ordered a Parnis copy of a Breitling Navitimer yesterday. Pictures to come.

I've lost one band, ripped the watch off in frustration once during a bad day. Then pins aren't very strong, and the detents that hold the pin in are plastic.

I climb a lot, and rarely use the features. That said, I can't afford to go into the big mountains so an altimeter isn't especially important to me.
