I'd be careful with an altimeter on a watch.

I use mine, but I take it's output with a full kilogram of salt.

Yep, trust me I know that one. The one I just bought said to calibrate it prior to each outing.

The Casio Pathfinder I had was very accurate, within 50ft. That said, I didn't use the altimeter much as I didn't need it often. I usually used it when terrain-associating with a topo map in a whiteout or winter storm on a peak.

This new High Gear whatever one is nice in that it updates your altitude #/value every second or so.

Anyone have any experience with MTM watches?
A friend of mine recommended The Patriot but for $500+ id like to know if it is worth it.

Mate at work walked into a major Department store (Myers) here, last week and wanted to replace his G shock Riseman..he almost had a heart attack when he was told it would be $449.Seeing he paid $220 for his old one a few years back.Anyway he got one on Ebay for $155 brand new.
He order from a US vendor on Sunday,Gshock at his door in Melbourne on Friday for $28 postage.Watches are such a rip off in Australia

have a luminox 3050/3051 for over a year now, still love it
recently lost the glass covering the glowing stick in the rotating bezel, sended it in, got it repaired for free cause of the warranty,
but beside this, this is an awesome and rugged watch, and i highly reccommend luminox watches, you get what you pay for.

Anyone have a good lead on replacement straps? I hate the plastic shin dig mine currently has and wouldn't mind moving onto canvas velcro type set up.

+1 on this, used one this last deployment with my marathon, and is pretty sturdy and comfortable.
