    Just notice these pictures. It's a shame that people categorize everyone involved during the 1950's, 1960's, and the 1970's as radicals and hippies. Yes there are those who take to the extreme in that they oppose everything the government does, but there are many of those who through non-violent/peaceful means fought for the equality of every American citizen. If it was not for "radicalism," then the Civil Rights Act, the Voting Rights Act, and the Fair Housing Act may have never came about.

    Again, it is not fair to categorize every activist at the time as the stereotypical anti-war hippie who is willing to bring down the government. You have to admit that the US at the time was a very different society, where in certain places throughout the US, racism and segregation prevailed. If was not for activism, then changes may have never occured.

    Just because a person is an activist/"renegade" does not mean they are unpatriotic.
