Damn it i would like to know more about the story, looks interesting!
am i right in thinking when you first see the puff of smoke thats the gun firing? then the sound and rounds hitting the ledge? that was some distance on that Hog!!
Here's a video I got from somebody today, of an A10 providing some CAS in the Dey Chopan region. I wasn't there, it happened a while ago, so I don't know the full story. Enjoy.

"Hey, Rahim.. tell those guys right there to watch that f*cking rock to the east.."
That was cool, thank you.
Puff, rounds hitting target, rounds going supersonic. Yeah it sounds weird, but the bullets hits the target first before you hear the "GGGGRRRRRRR" of the bullets going supersonic.Originally Posted by StirCrazy

2 years ago, we were running around Camp Shelby, MS in our Bradleys(one of my past units), and were supposed to travel through the gunnery range. The range was supposed to be cold that day. Well, after driving for about an hour, we did a convoy stop just short of the GR, for a piss break. My driver, who wasn't always there, i.e. kinda crazy, said, "I think I just heard an A10." I still had my CVC on, so I took it off and listened, and heard only the noise of jets flying around. I was about to ask him how he knew it was A10's when I heard the BUUUUUURP of the cannon. I grew up about 5 miles South of the Ft. Rucker GR and immediately recognized it. It turns out that range control failed to inform us that they had slotted some range time for some Warthogs, which could have been a big disaster. So, we ended up just ending the mission and heading home. It's a good thing, cause I could just see this happening:
"This is Falcon 3 I'm starting my gun run"
"3 this is 2, looks like they've got some moving targets for us down there, go ahead and fire 'em up."
You can figure out the rest. Or, if you can't, just go shoot a Coke can with a shotgun.![]()
I love the sound of the gatling gun, its not what you expect the 1st time you hear one, quite a haunting spooky sounding noise.
