I remember the pic from 2003 or 2004. Her husband was being transported back to his hometown for burial and this was an overnight stop. I beleive that the corps provided proper "escorts" until one of their own reaches his final resting place. The poor wife refused to leave her husbands coffin.
I'm not sure if the marines standing watch on a fallen comerade is standard protocol or not. Maybe some of the marines here can clarify this?
The picture had won several awards internationally I believe.
