they're talking about a specific stamp you have to get for your hunting permit. it costs $7 and was instituted about 5 months ago. some hunters don't know about it so the authorities tend to let the accused off with a warning.

and i was laughing for a good five minutes at CJ's response to black rain.

BTW CJ, by their own definition anyone who does not fully support bush is automatically a 'liberal', whatever their actual beliefs (like small gov't, for instance).

it's the old phrase, 'it's only illegal if you're caught doing it'. cheney could have been too drunk to fish and it wouldn't have mattered a bit. but you can't ignore the fact that someone was injured. as it is, this guy is in a hospital and he's got plenty of money to pay the medical bills, plus he's got a friend (cheney) who has all the motivation in the world to make sure he recovers and cheney's got plenty of gov't resources that can be called on.

and if even if the guy dies, the r's can do a schiavo on him.

He must of nailed that guy really close up to get bird shot against the wall of the heart.

    I feel for the dude.

One moment you are kissing ass getting special favors from the administration, then BAM! you are a liability, just because the Vice PResident could not follow gun safety.

    Sucks...

There are things here called jokes, and sayings.

Neither mean they are serious, or common practice (or practiced at all for that matter).

So did cheney actually hit the bird. Cuase then it wouldn't have been for nothing.

I think the pellet traveled towards the heart - either through the tissue or through the blood streams.

the local sherriff says cheney wasn't drunk. of course, he only interviewed cheney 2 days after the incident.

quite a few people don't buy the '30 yard range' bit, either. a 28-gauge gun couldn't deliver enough force at that range to cause the injuries being described. i.e.: the guy was closer, a lot closer.

as far as waiting 2 days before the news was discovered by a local paper: cheney was just scared ****less of what rove was going to say. a major job of a VP is to not embarass the president and shooting someone by accident qualifies as an embarassment.
