What's interesting is seeing theses Merkava's running across the rock's with impunity. I wonder what frequency tracks are thrown in this kind of terrain for the Merkava's?
The Merkava is specially designed for driving on the "basalt-rocks" on the Golan-height.
Due to its heavy armor many people belive that the Merkava is a "bunker on tracks".
In fact it is very agile.

But this one got stuck.....

The one that got stuck is a Merkava 3 and not the four. This can be seen by the second hatch on the turret. Merkava 4 has only one hatch.
Great video thanks. Does any one know what the speaker is saying when it shows the M1 abrams and the leclerc.
Great video.Merkeva 4 one of my favorite tanks!
He is saying that the Merkava has the same engine as the French Leclerc, and is comparable in weight and speed to the US M-1.
he is saying that the Merkava has an engine similar to the leclerec, and it has similar in speed to the Abrams.Originally Posted by Mcbain321

Cool thanks. They must have upgraded the merkava's engine because i thought the older version was slow compared to the abrams.Originally Posted by Aleksandr
The M-1 uses a gas turbine engine, similar to the one used on helicopters. The previous Merkavas' used the derivative of the AVDS-1790 engine. While the Merkava 4 uses a General Dynamics GD883, which itself is a licensed production of the German MTU883. So yes, Israel did improve the engine.
Cool thanks for the info.Originally Posted by Aleksandr
