First Anoa prototype called Panser Type 0 (zero) used Steyr Puch 260 hp engine rated below Renault which has 320 hp. But 320 hp diesel engine is not hard to get. There are so many Japan and European civilian truck using the same rate engine, Scania and Mitsubishi Fuso (trintin).
I don't think engine is the issue.
Juwono said the Anoa price is Rp 12 bio a piece? Higher than French VAB. TNI AD bought retrofitted VAB US$ 700 k or euro 550 k in 2007 to deploy in Lebanon. If they were new, I think the price will not exceed US$ 800 k.
Did the Anoa development cost was so high so it need sale of 150 Anoa to make it cheaper than foreign product?
Two Air Force jets receive missile lock-on threat in South Sulawesi
The Jakarta Post , Jakarta | Fri, 02/20/2009 2:39 PM | National
Two of the Air Force's newly procured Sukhoi SU-30 jets received unknown missile lock-on threats while practicing an air interception scenario in air space around South Sulawesi on Friday morning.
Sultan Hasnuddin Air Force base commander First Marshall Ida Bagus Putu Dunia said there was a pilot and a Russian instructor onboard each jet during the practice when their warning system indicated that missiles might have been about to be fired at them.
“I received the report at 09:00 a.m. local time (08:00 Jakarta time),” he said as quoted by kompas.com.
Dunia said both jets were flying at 5,000 above sea level when they registered the threat.
“We haven't figured out who send the threat. We have sent a surveillance plane to comb a 370 kilometer radius area around the Makassar radio navigation ground station, but it has been to no avail,” he said.
Dunia said that he had confirmed that there was no report of foreign aircraft asking any permission to enter the airspace. (dre)

my info said the threat came from sea/land... anyone have more info?
I really dont think it will be the Kilo. Previously, the talk was that if it is Russian, it would be the Amur class.
But I personally think it is more likely to be the Type 209. Why? Because the TNI AL already have 2 Type 209. It would make better sense. Karbol, do you think CAKRA and NANGGALA are anjing kampung?
Guys Indonesia sky was so wide and open, I remember in 1999 when the East Timor was freed from Indonesia, the Australian jet fighter (F-18) enter the Indonesia territory near Kupang so often and the patrolling fighter (Hawk 100) couldn't chase them, even it look like they mock the Indonesian fighter, and finally it made the authority angry and give instruction to shoot them down if they could. Or incident near Bawean in 2003 when the US fighter F-18 lock the TNI AU F-16, whereas they only ask the identity to those fighter due to their flight disrupt the commercial aviation, once again this incident scorning the Indonesia Air force.
Now it's happen again, the brand new Sukhoi was locked by unidentified threat, and those new Sukhoi didn't have armament at all. I think Indonesia government should add more radar station and surveillance plane or maybe this incident will bring the house of representative member senses and they will approve to add more fighter and armament.
Furthermore you don't know how many submarine have enter your teritory guys he..he..
Historically, missile-warning systems have had high false-alarm rates especially without the 'solar' filter for UV missile warning counter measure. Being deployed in the Equatorial area, TNI-AU probably will see more false detections. In Iraq, USAF C-130s encounter many false lock on warnings during descending upon urban area from urban UV reflection (even an acetylene torch can set off lock warning).
Whether it's false warning or not, it's interesting how TNI AU reacted this way. It somewhat shows how much blind spot they have within the border itself.![]()
maybe there's someone wanted to test the TNI-AU SU30 electronics and aviation systems... same happened when RMAF receiving their new SU30MKM. during the Independence Day Celebration on 2007 there are several reports on someone or something are trying to test or spying RMAF SU30MKM systems...

15 Jan 1962 "Pasukan Gerilya 300" leaves Jakarta with 115 insurgents on four Jaguar class torpedo boats, three boats reached the Aru Sea where two Dutch destroyers pursued them and sunk the lead boat with Commodore Yos Sudarso. 51 survivors were picked up, detained until March and with UN mandated repatiation back to Java.

26 Apr 1962 40 guerrilla paratroopers of DPC Team 3 flew by Dakotas towards Fak-Fak; the first guerrilla was arrested after asking a Papuan on a canoe for help and who was delivered instead to the Police. Three months later the last insurgent was arrested.
26 Apr 1962 32 guerrilla paratroopers of DPC Team 4 flew by Dakotas towards Kaimana; evaded capture for almost three months but whose commander Lieut. Heru Sisnodo's diary was also captured, roughly translated to:
"I am disillusioned because I did not expect this deployment that face this tough operation and I cry because the Papuans do not support us. They do not give us food: we must look for our own food or barter with our valuable equipment. They report our movements to the Dutch."
15-25 May 1962 PGT commandos and army paratroopers jump near Fak-Fak; 20 Police rangers approach coastline with speedboats; PGT and army paratroopers jump near Kaimana; and PGT commandos jump near Sorong while Pasukan Gerilya 400 made a sea landing. The Police rangers were arrested on route to the beach, some PGT commandos held a small village shortly near Sorong while the rest of the parachutists were quickly captured or fleeing capture.
Supposedly there were other special operations by PUSPASSUS (then Kopasus) which never been published.
