Jakarta - Two Indonesia air force Sukhoi's jet fighter, successfully done dropping practice bomb P-100 at Takalar district, south Celebes province on Tuesday.

P-100 practice bomb is the outcome of Air Force Research and Development and Sari Bahari, CV Malang, East Java collaboration.
That bomb had 1.130 millimeter length, 100-125 Kilogram weight and 273 millimeter diameter. It made from modular iron element for the body, steel VCN 15 for safety pin (for attached at weapon pylon) and ST-37 for tail, with 410 millimeter length.

CMIIW, this is a dumb-type bomb, isn't it ? You just release it, it falls straight down like a rock & explodes on impact. It does not glide, does it ?this is most interesting article for me... check it out:

The Indonesian Defense Industry is ready to produce bombs for the Sukhoi aircraft and other standard aircrafts for the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO). The 100 kilogram caliber bomb named P100 has been produced by the Research and Develpment Division of the TNI Air force HQ.

Then why people are so proud of it ? This is a World War II technology. Or even before that. They had used it in WW I.
You don't need an expensive 3rd generation Flanker jet to carry & drop it:
(1) The Flanker has to fly right on top of the target, meaning: inside the hostile enemy territory.
(2) By carrying this thing, the Flanker's max speed will be greatly reduced. Then it will become a soft target for the advanced SAM or AAM.
Three mistakes people see from the recent Mumbai Attack:
1. Intelligent: impotent, they didn't detect & they were not able to prevent it.
2. Navy: big hole, they were not able to detect & stop the terrorist on the sea, far from the target.
3. CT Commando: slow, late arrival & doesn't look like a modern CT Commando.
The recent widely publicitized TNI-Polri joint CT exercises would have affected the mistake no 3, ONLY; which is the mitigation when the accident has accured.
How about the mistakes No 1 & 2 as prevention measures & are far more important ? I'm not sure if TNI & Polri have learned anything from it.
They also has built the real bomb version of this p-100 (non dummy), and from some sources, it is said that they also are developing the guided bomb ( I don't know what it looks like, maybe the guided bomb that was shown at indodefence).
It's better to put this kind of bomb on the badger..

it is a dumb bomb. but making a dumb bom is not easy as you think. it must be aerodynamics, and the bomb must work (to exploded)... and not every country in the world could make a dumb bomb...
beside, you need to know how to make a dumb bomb, before you can make the 'smart' one...
but it have a stable trajectory, thats important. and this kind of bomb usefull when bombing inside jungle canopy.

Indonesia plan to buy six more Sukhoi using export credit year 2005 to assemble full 1 squadron.
Those 2 Sukhois MKM arrived in Hasanuddin was part of these scheme
Each year Indonesia will receive 2 Sukhois, start in 2008
So the last Sukhoi will arrive in 2010
Sukhoi was not part of the $ 1 billion Russian state credit, so does the 4 Mi-17 arrived few month ago using normal credit export facility. I forgot bthe exact year of the credit export scheme for 4 Mi-17
DoD will use the Russian state credit to buy 2 Kilo submarines, 20 BMP-3F, another 10 MI-17, 5 more MI-35, and maybe some weaponry for Sukhoi

Question/correction:
1. The far left: is it Gegana or Den88AT ? These are two different Police units, thought personnel & hardware wise are mixed.
2. Kopassus correct name: Sat-81/Gultor. No more Den-81.
3. What did Marines Yontaifib do in the CT exercise ? They are Marines Amphibious Recon.
