What happen to the kilo deal ? indo do operate type 209 right ... how about a deal of the 2 subs and a refit for their older 209 by the korean.
maybe korean offer the gov't a good deal (including transfer of technology)... or maybe their sub's are cheaper...![]()

i think (or hope....) the KILO deal still in progress. but, lately, the news said, we have some difficulty about the deal.
Another one of those MoU? When will the actual construction schedule or purchase contract is going to be signed?
Let's see over the years of what has been reported:
- Additional Sukhois - have not materialized yet, contrast this with Malaysians or Venezuelans Sukhois - which arrive in bunches, presumably with ordnance
- Sukhoi weaponries - sure, a bunch of free fall bombs with multiple ejector racks.
- Russian corvette with Spanish-made hulls - is that a hoax or what?
- Mil choppers and Skytruck mpa - I read somewhere that the Mil helicopters deal was stopped due to improper funding (?) and why buy Skytruck mpa if indigenously produced cn-235 can fit the bill?
- Sigma corvette - yes, finally 4 reasonably modern design, good combat mgmt systems and all - and oh no ..... they've got empty quivers, no Exocet or Mistral, only the launchers. Well, at least they look sharp and dapper.
- Various point defence and manpads - Giant bow, Grom, QW-3 what else? Were all these purchases done just to evaluate? Maybe start the manpads collection? There's a common method in the industry, it's called an RFQ and then competitively bid the project through a set of requirements. It's a simple business concept.
- Kilo subs - has not materialized yet ....
- F-16C offers - apparently once embargoed does not make the government twice shy .... (tribute to the band Great White .... :P). I think finally somebody came to their senses .... not all of them can be idiots ......
- TD-2000 - the super duper mysterious Chinese AAA - insert your joke here ......
- C802 - well, I'll be damned, this one actually shows up - with firing trials and all. So I guess there will be 3 different SSM in service (Exocet, Harpoon, C802)?
- L159 - another one of those MoU (???)
- Tucano - this one if (big IF) it really happens is perplexing. The Air force has some Wong Bees - wouldn't it be easier to arm the Wong Bees instead? Less pilot training, commonality from logistical standpoint etc?
- LVTP7 Amtrak donation - no more news lately
- National corvette - ???
- MoU for Mistral Atlas system - another one of those MoU
That's a long list, I'm tired just listing them ...... What do you guys think?
i think you are trolloping...this is a TNI in Gallery (the New Photos) thread.
ha ha .... yeah, not exactly the right forum.
Mea culpa.
... maybe I'll start a new board. In the meantime - can anybody comments on all those 'supposed' procurements?
i can answer some of your question...
- Additional Sukhois - have not materialized yet, contrast this with Malaysians or Venezuelans Sukhois - which arrive in bunches, presumably with ordnance
answer: we have some difficulty with rusia. i think you already heard the news...
- Mil choppers and Skytruck mpa - I read somewhere that the Mil helicopters deal was stopped due to improper funding (?) and why buy Skytruck mpa if indigenously produced cn-235 can fit the bill?
answer: the deal for skytruckMPA are canceled.
- Sigma corvette - yes, finally 4 reasonably modern design, good combat mgmt systems and all - and oh no .....
answer: the weapon for the sigma are coming in 2009, including exocetMM-40.
- Various point defence and manpads - Giant bow, Grom, QW-3 what else? Were all these purchases done just to evaluate? Maybe start the manpads collection? There's a common method in the industry, it's called an RFQ and then competitively bid the project through a set of requirements. It's a simple business concept.
answer: the airforce allready buy more QW's... right now, we have abou 200 missile in our inventory...
- MoU for Mistral Atlas system - another one of those MoU
answer: the MoU are not for the missile, but for the vehicle that bulid by PINDAD...
i believe i can't satisfied u'r curiosity... but believe me, in the near future, we have some new toys..![]()
i have nothing against you pal. You can open a discussion thread on TNI at general disscussion http://www.militaryphotos.net/forums...isplay.php?f=5.
Unless ofcourse u post some picture related to your question
if PAL can get the "technical assistant" for 209 then PAL can easily adopt the 212 concept.......since the 212 sub is naturaly the 209+AIP propulsion+new low noise propeller+new fuel cell+ n a bit frame construction...
n if PAL someday...........can modify 209 to 212...then 214 is one step ahead.....
n
some sez PAL might get the AIP technology....for the 209...
as i told you guys before, we gona have new toys in the near future... so here we go. new Mi-17 just arrive in Juanda Airport, Surabaya...

Finally those helos arrived but are they part of the much publicized $1billion deal with Russia or are they not?
If they do, that means behind the screen some deals are going through without public knowing. Bravo for the TNI in keeping these surprises.![]()
wuhaaa! How much did we received?
Do we get 5 or 6 Mi35Ps in total?
Thanks for the pictures Karbol!

First three Russian military helicopters delivered to Indonesia

SURABAYA, July 3 (RIA Novosti) - The first three Russian Mi-17-B5 Hip H medium assault/transport helicopters were delivered to Indonesia on Thursday.
Russia signed a contract with Indonesia in 2005 to supply six helicopters made by the Kazan helicopter plant.
"Three helicopters were delivered to the Indonesian ground forces base in the city of Surabaya this morning. Their assembly will start Friday," Andrei Mironov, who will oversee the assembly of the helicopters, told RIA Novosti Thursday.
Mironov said the remaining three helicopters would arrive in the country soon.
Nikolai Kireyev, a representative of Russian state-run arms exporter Rosoboronexport in Jakarta, said 15 pilots and technical specialists from Indonesia visited the Kazan helicopter plant in Russia's Volga area in the spring for three months of training.
In fall 2007, then Russian President Vladimir Putin agreed with Indonesia's leadership on Russia allocating a $1 billion loan for Indonesia to buy 22 helicopters, 20 tanks and two submarines made in Russia. Additionally, Jakarta said it would buy six Su aircraft worth a total of $335 million.
Mi-17 is a version of the Mi-8 airframe. The helicopter has a takeoff weight of 13 metric tons and can carry up to 36 people or a payload of 4 tons within the cabin or 4.5 tons outside it. The helicopters have been delivered to 80 countries.

....from the news, i think this helo's are not from US$ 1 Billion credit in 2007. it's said from contract in 2005, that being hold co'z off corruption case... so, we can hope more helo's to come...
