Any photos and info on austrian paratroopers from newly formed brigade? All I know is that brigade was formed in 1999 together with mountain and motorised Ranger(Jaeger) brigade...Jagdkommando (special forces groups)
The Bundesheer has only four brigades!
2 MechInf Brig - 3rd and 4th Panzergrenadierbrigade
2 LightInf Brig - 6th and 7th Jägerbrigade
The 7th Jägerbrigade is the "high mountain brigade". The only true airborne unit is the Jägerbataillon 25, part of 6th Jägerbrigade. Some pics:
Any info on Jaegerbattalion 25 - airborne unit? Do they have their own web site? I had no idea that Austrians actually have paratroopers, I though those were SF from Jagdkommando battalion...Jagdkommando (special forces groups)
Well they have the letters "jagdkommando" on their backs, so I guess it is the jagdkommando
@ mladina: Yes, these pics are from the Jagdkommando, but the pics in my last post are from the Jägerbataillon 25 - the airborne unit.
Both units are capable to land by parachute. The recruits learn to jump by automatic parachute, the career soldiers are capable to land by paragliders.
The 3rd company of JB25 is one of the Kaderpräsenzeinheiten KPE in the AAF. Although the AAF is a militia army, we have these KPEs, where only professional soldiers serve. The 3/25 is probably the best unit after the Jagdkommando and our "fire brigade" when there are problems in a international mission - for example durning the march-riots in Kosovo. The 3/25 will become a very big "super-company" in the next months.
