Japanese Embassy seized by Tupac Amaru Rebels - 1997
In Lima, Peru ,1997, a group of 15 rebels deguised has servicemen in a party, invaded and seized the Japanese Embassy, making more than 100 hostages.
After 4 months of unsucessfull negotiations a group of 140 peruvian commandos stormed the embassy.
The Rebels were entrenched inside the embassy. In the 4 months of siege , the Peruvian forces, asked help and received help of the world´s most specialized CT Units, some say they were aided with a " giant x ray machine" capable of seeing through walls, they have sent very small microphones inside clothes for the hostage were they kept contact and gathered information about the place and about the rebels.
4 months after the Peruvian Forces invaded the embassy , all rebels killed , they invaded by 3 tunnels dug during the negotiations and by the roof, were they blew up 2 holes, 1 hostage killed and 2 soldiers severely wounded, later, died. 4 months siege ended in less than 1 hour.
The CT HQ, ironically, was set up in the same house the terrorists had used to launch their attack.
The CT conducted a series of harassing activities. The residence's water and electricity were cut off; in addition, heavily armed policemen marched in front of the residence, threw stones into the compound, played loud music, occasionally fired shots into the air, and may have had a television reporter enter the residence, ostensibly for an interview but primarily to collect intelligence on the positions of hostages and weapons.
