Worn down does not exist in the Landmacht lexicon. Look at the YPRs

the leo's aren't that young either, and they have to take more direct hits when in combat because of their role.

I have heard no word on buying tanks, and if such a decision was made I would hear it rather quick. However, the army is investigating the option to lease German tanks and even maybe place a company in Germany (Güz Altmark would be logical). In any case, general de Kruiff is very clear on the importance of knowing how to fight with tanks in a batallion taskgroup or team.
The hulls aren't all worn down. Yes there were some with small cracks but it's easier to just replace them and upgrade the rest. Primarily the suspension, though a generator would be welcome (and while I'm at it, A/C please).

i'm only basing it on info from defensieforum which stated all of these things, weak hulls etc. a former huzaar shared the rumors and the info.
He stated the army was looking for 'new' tanks.

Operating german tanks would be a good idea, however it doesn't make up for the stupidity of scrapping the tanks completely...

@gastrion i can see you've been on the defensieforum for a while now. That forum has a damn habbit of turning every topic into a ''the navy is everything and the other don't count'' discussion. You should read the information that they give very carefully. especially kapitein rob and elzenga have a damn habbit of it.

not surprising, them being old navy men... although i have to admit that the navy is some of the last pride the dutch armed forces have .

No room for pride in the Dutch Armed Forces. Just people doing their jobs, and doing them well.
