Actually I think Hillen did quite a nice job in the beginning of the budget cuts. He didn't use the method that all other ministers used by reducing all units by a bit. He chose for drastic measures and those were very painfull for a few units, but overall it was a good call. After his initial plans it went wrong when the politicians wanted to keep a few Cougars, ect ect.

Hillen was actually one of the few who actually had a plan. Whether you like it or not, at least he had one.

Too bad the DSI doens't have the newer wite stocks on the MP5's that allow you to aim the weapon with you're helmet-visor all the way down. The germans had this issue and they developed the stock and it's working quite well.

Was firing up the bbq in the garden when 7 F-16s flew over. Some sort of missing man formation over Margraten military cemetery probably.

actually, there were 4 USAF F15s in the lead that were followed by the 3 KLU/RNLAF F16s. (I was near the egress route) I noticed drop tanks on the F16s.

That's possible, only heard the first group (made more noise) and saw them when they were further away. F-16s took a closer look in my backyard.

De Limburger newspaper has a pic posted with an article on the subject.
