How about 35mm? I saw one drive around the barracks at Amersfoort the other day. Looks like a friggin' tank!

    Bushmaster III 35/50
    7.62 mm coax

Btw. on the defense website there is an interesting material project for the CV9035. It's called CE protection suites, it will provide more protection against IEDs and RPG. A combination of active and reactive armour.

Have you heard about anything like that for the CV90 signatory?

about IED protection I don't know.. but for aerial threats there's three protection systems for the CV90 that I know about.

One Israeli (Rafael), One South African/Swedish (Denel/Saab), one Swedish (Åkers Krutbruk).

I believe Holland is buying the SA one in the soft-kill setup (LEDS 50), but it can be easily upgraded with hardkill (LEDS 150) for protection against RPGs and ATGMs, you already got the laser warners on the vehicles. the softkill version use a multispectral grenade to mask IR and break radar locks etc. LEDS 300 under development will even kill tank rounds.

The Åkers Krutbruk AAC Active Armor concept otoh get most attention from our Military.. pics below. In demo phase right now.

    AAC

The Israeli system which is basically reactive armor afaik came first but is apparently not as safe as the AAC.

    Rafael

And of course you can add extra armor to better protect against mines and projectiles, the CV90C which we use in international ops got 4 tones of extra armor..

Yeah they've been hit. Two by IED's and one by multiple rockets (RPG probably), it had to be destroyed by an Apache because it couldn't be salvaged but the occupants were unharmed.

Probably not a sight you see very often when serving on a Navy vessel.
