Well.....if you look at Spartan Life......it was pretty weird if not down right gay. The men and young boys stayed in barracks and crept in every once in a while to rape their wives.

But you really didn't want to be a Helot.......thats for sure!

As far as I know, they are not making the film right now. The film IS ready and it'll be on wide screens the first months into 2007.

Even if the director follows exactly the Frank Miller's comic '300' script, it IS a crap because the story would be based on a cartoon - not on the real story. Just imagine a "Judge Dred" styled - based on a cartoon prototype - movie.

IF all the "gays" could fight, the way these legendary 300 Spartans plus 700 Thespians did, every Army would be proud to have "gay" battalions. I said... "IF"!

Ofcourse it isn't accurate! After all, it's a COMIC.

The "Blackhawk down" movie was a real story and the director TRIED and finaly managed to make the film as real as could be. The "44mins - North Hollywood shootout" was a real story and the director TRIED and finaly managed to make the film as real as could be (I've seen the real TV news camera shots and I was impreased on how's the director did exact same scenario).

Well, the "Crypteia" team (undercovered Spartan "agency" made to terminate Helots who tried or may try to start revolutions) was even worst for them. But we all should agree that every "great nation" into the ages has it's own "agencies" to terminate things that could threat it's interests - even today!

I bet you mean "to rape the Helot's wives". The Spartan women were very honored during these years. If a Spartan woman had been raped, the guilty should be very hard punished and quite propably been executed - no jokes with Spartan women honor!

Stranger, go and tell the Spartans, here we lie, Obedient

Battle of Thermopylae 480 BC as written into Historynet. The sun blacked out by arrows. Few brave men had broken all their weapons and shields and finaly fought to the death with bare hands and teeth in order to give time to their allies to regroup. Their fighting spirit still lives with us today.

    ΜΟΛΩΝ ΛΑΒΕ

The modern monument in Thermopylae, placed very close to the exact point where the last Spartans died fighting.

Epitaph with Simonides' epigram, placed on the top of the small hill, on the exact point where the last Spartans died fighting.
