Very sad story. Actually the first genocide of the 20th century. The perpetrators won't even admit it, calling it "WWI collateral damage"....

While this genocide in itself was a very tragic event, you have no clue what "Holocaust" really means. Enlighten yourself before throwing unnecessary words around. It only shows your lack of knowledge.

if this comment is directed to me you should know that I just translated the caption!.. my understanding from the event is limited to couple of websites which favor Armenian POV.. that is why I reserved my opinion on the subject!

    Wikipedia entry :

The Armenian Genocide (also known as the Armenian Holocaust or the Armenian Massacre) is a term which refers to the forced mass evacuation and related deaths of hundreds of thousands or over a million Armenians, during the government of the Young Turks from 1915 to 1917 in the Ottoman Empire.

The word holocaust originally derived from the Greek word holokauston, meaning "a completely (holos) burnt (kaustos) sacrificial offering" to a god. Since the late 19th century, "holocaust" has primarily been used to refer to disasters or catastrophes.

It didn't help the matter that the Armenian were in open, armed rebellion against Turkish forces who were busy consolidating what little territory was left over from ww1.

I believe what he is trying to say is that it is not as clean cut an issue as it may appear on the surface. Armenians were used as pawns by more powerful forces, for example, and were armed with the intent of forming death squads against Turkish civilians. They killed upwards of 2 million Turks in this way. This does not, however, take away from what is a clear operation of ethnic cleansing and documented acts of genocide spurning from mass hysteria among the Ottoman leadership against a thoroughly integrated Armenian minority.
