    Default Chelsea Pensioners

Is there an organisation similiar to that of the Royal Hospital and the Chelsea Pensioners in America or any other Country?

I never knew they were entitled to the hackney carriage (black London cab) licence fees - they ought to claim it all, it would pay for the hospital for years

Marvelous place, the only other example I can think of is Les Invalides in Paris - although I think that takes wounded soldiers of all ages.

They also own quite a few flats in the Chelsea area & that brings in a pretty penny in rent payments.

I worked in that area of London for a company called Z****si(part of Whirlpool) and I had the privilage of working in the Royal Hospital and the barracks across the road(?) it was some time ago now. Anyway it always blew my mind how cool these guys looked walking around Kensington.
Makes me proud to be British, not quite sure but I guess it's coming from a place that has a long military history!

interesting....well, we have the Veterans Affairs hospitals. Those soldiers on active duty get their medical taken care of, of course. Retired soldiers, and veterans can get medical care at the VA.

I have heard that the level of care is not top notch. I'm not very familiar with the whole process, perhaps someeon else could give better insight.

My FFL goes to the VA all the time(he was exposed to Agent Orange in Vietnam) doesn't have cancer but has all manner of things wrong woith his body, it's sad really because he's the smae age as my Ol Man and they look likkethere's 20yrs difference.
Anyway back on subject, I think the level of care is there it just takes some time to get it.

I used to repair medical equipment at VA hospitals & I'll just say that they're not the best of the best. They're not falling apart, but like anything the gov't has a hand in, things tend to go to the lowest bidder.
