Very interesting pictures- is that an exercise with Austria? Where is that? De Panne? The Sahara of Belgium (Lommel)?

Thanks VOR- makes a lot more sense- I wasn't sure who they were, I guessed Austria only because of the MG74s- I didn't know that anyone else was using these. They sure don't look European, but nowadays one can't use that as a signifier so please excuse my guess.

    Anymore information about that exercise?

I agree completely Sewen, having a infantry unit in the West would make such a difference. Very good idea in my opinion.

No I didn't return to the Combat Engineers, I wanted to be sure of my spot, so I went to the Air Force instead.

Nowadays you can find me in Evere-Zuid, in Block 4. Also known as the "beschutte werkplaats 4" I work at DG BF, I pay huuuge invoices for the Aeronautical division, like C-130 maintenance, F-16 engines, stuff like that. It's interesting. It's different.

Special Forces are back from Chad

    It says:
After an almost 5 month mission the SFG returned to Melsbroek on March 23, 2009.
Since the 15th of October the SFG were pursuing an Intelligence gathering mission for EUFOR which consisted of supply reconnaissance, gathering intel over weapons, vehicles, uniforms and the working methods of their targets. They did this through observation and by questioning civilians during patrols.

It goes on to say that this is the first time that Belgium was given this type of responsibility within an international detachment. As to the question of did they accomplish their goals? That is and will stay top secret.

Definately one of the more err..."special" NCO's I've ever encountered...though still not THE most remarkable one...

Your new job sounds extremely different, indeed. Don't you miss the joys of cold, heat, and rain though?
I tend to be a little jealous of the GevGen, playing with fireworks and all

Yes, the firing range is at Lombardsijde, but one might use the ranges of Helchteren (or maybe that's not a possibility, I honestly don't know).

If we're not going to f*ck with 14A and the air force:
F*ck with the navy, more specifically the naval infantry.
The MARDIV used to be more than just the navy's air-commandos...marinefus. would be a reasonable alternative for stormfus. if it would become a "better" Cie- or maybe even Bn-sized unit...

    Oh well...
Where are you now, anyway, 1Cie? I think I remember you didn't return to the GevGen?

Anno 2009, the Belgian AA capacity is into EUBG 2009, is collaborating with the french and norwegians (Cold respons 2009/ mistral together with NASAAM).
Have you ever heard about a Joint layered Air defence system, CRAM...

Last november, a belgian patrol was attacked by a Sudan Mi24 Hind. What are you now going to reply: no, we don't need AA protection?

Look, it is understandable that a infanterist thinks only in terms of the Infantary (it's the core business anyway); but claiming you don't need Combat Sp nor Combat Services Sp is just 'B*llsh*t'.

I don't there were any "real" hostiles, because it would be pretty strange to civilians if Belgian soldiers would start shooting at Dutch soldiers in public spaces.
