    Been cleaning out the PC some more:

    Now, is there anyone on this forum who is currently serving in 2/4L?
    If so: are you guys still with A-esk as a light squadron, and the rest still on leopard, or has this changed?

    Yep A-squadron is still infantry minded, thank god .
    We are still on AIFV C25MM and probably will get our reconversion on AIV 30 in the beginning of 2010, in octobre 2009 there is an excercice planned with Bevr/5Li in Grafenwohr if i'm not mistaken and for now there is a platoon that will go on "versterking" with Bevr when they go to Kunduz.

    Ohyea there is also an AIFV platoon now in the D-squadron next to 2 Leopard platoons

    What's the "official job title" they give you guys? Because something tells me it's not "stormfuselier", right?
    I saw that 2/4L is expecting like 20-30 new guys early next year, and that the job title was "fuselier-verkenner msl Atk", but to me 20 people seems a lot for just the recce platoon (IS there still a "peloton verkenner" in 2/4L? )

    It's fusilier, from fusil (rifle).

    Nope, but there are rumours about starting it back up, which would be really nice because they get all the great jobs and are considered as the creme de la creme of 2/4L.
    There isn't a real job discription to what we do, it's a very versatile weapon, you can dismount ur lads in the back and use em as an extra pair of eyes in some situations to examine a bridge as an exemple or when you'r in defensive Ops and you have big sector you can get use your MILAN/MIRA to hold a part of the sector. And 2/4L is indeed expecting a lot of new BV's, most of em are for the AIFV's. We call our guys in the back Volti's like 1/JP has their own voltigeurs, you can't really put a name on what we are doing, we can do a bunch of things and the high chiefs in Brussels don't really know what to do . I just hope we stay this infantry minded, it's imo a much more interesting job.

    Yeah, the pl verkenner kinda has the same "myth" about it in Bevrijding, too. Their logo is still painted on the wall in the hallway of their block, and I actually believe there will be murders if it ever disappears
    Along with the 120mm it's probably the only thing people really "miss" about "old times"...
    Anyway, I suppose fuselier-verkenner Msl Atk is the name the people in Brussels decided to give you guys then (I have no idea WTF else it could be), congratulations
    There used to be a South-African (or maybe just West-Flemish ) guy from 2/4L on my train, who always insisted that A-esk was infantry, not tankboeren, if I ever see him again, I'll tell him his correct title is voltigeur

    No, it is not.
    Next time you feel the need to bless us with your intelligent observations, you might want to check a dictionary before posting...
    (Unless you're Francophone, in which case you might be surprised to find out that French isn't the only language spoken in the universe)

    Leave the witty comments will you please. No, I'm not "Francophone" and you might be surprised that also in English it's Fusilier. The dictionary says indeed fuselier so there must be a weapon fusel that I haven't heard of before... Well, one learns every day.

    If you don't want witty remarks directed at you, you should refrain from making stupid comments. Especially if the making of said stupid comment could be prevented by using a dictionary or google for 5 seconds.

    I'm guessing the most accurate modern English translation for "fuselier" is probably rifleman.
    This is next to the point though, as I was asking Pathfinder[BE] if the "official" jobtitle given to the people serving in his squadron was "stormfuselier" - as this is the term used in almost every military document to refer to the MOS of infantry (well, actually it's a silly word, invented by some prick who thought "infanterist" didn't sound mysterious/awesome enough, but whatever...), and I was wondering if these men were now "labeled" as infantrymen, since they're definately not tankers anymore and I had noticed the use of a new/curious term in reference to people in his battalion.
    At this point you barge in and decide to comment on the spelling of half of this word, (put in Italic and between " 's, clearly suggesting it's not English), proving you're:
    A) Lazy , since you can't be bothered to check whether or not your own statement is correct, but go around correcting people anyway;
    and/or B) arrogant, as you lack the modesty to use terms like "I think", "probably", "maybe", etc. etc. when you're not 100% sure of yourself;
    and/or C) provocative, indirectly suggesting that I'm some sort of retard who doesn't even know how to spell his own MOS, yet expecting no response in return.

    Nonetheless I have tried to respond in a relatively civilised manner, refraining from the use of terms like "retard", "smart-as$", "fvck", "cvnt", etc. etc.
    And still you're crying about being told off?

    (I will make up for these posts full of text by posting pics later today - edit: well, f*ck today, it'll have to be tomorrow)
