That´s a much disputed question, in example Sweden in Finnish is Ruotsi, could
be connected to Roslagen (in the Stockholm area) or Rossija. Perhaps perhaps,
but Russian Texan is probably to stupid to admit it even if he believes us. But
one things for sure, he doesn´t know the answer himself either.

Yes they do, and apparently better ones than in Sweden

    Quote from your source:
According to the legend, in the early part of the 9th century Scandinavian people known as the Varangians crossed the Baltic Sea and landed in Eastern Europe.
    According to the legend......

So who lived there before "according to the legend", before 9 th century A.D.?
    Do you know?
    I do.
1000 years B.C., Eastern Europe, as well as Eastern, Southern Russia and parts of central Russia were populated by "Skifs", also known as "Arians" and "Skoloty".
Since you like and trust legends so much, I suggest you look up Hercules's adventures.
According to the legend Hercules got his bow from the Skif named Tevtar, who also taught him how to shoot it.
Vikings involvement into Russian history is well known but they came into land already populated by skifs/arians/skolots or people later named slavs...
May I also suggest you do not use "travel guides" as a historical referrence...

So, masturbato, what happened to answering my questions from that "video thread"? Why do you always run away?
Don't you have any dignity at all? How about guts and character to admit that you are wrong?
Btw, a smart person would never say that he is smart and call someone stupid...

Exactly, what has your claim that there were people there before the vikings
came got to do with anything? As you may know (but probably just ignore)
is that your beloved Rossija of course comes from something with "Ros", not those
    other nations you mentioned.

And tadaa, how did this Ros come to power and how did they become so powerfull,
and more interestingly, why did it happen in the same region where the vikings
had the power and not down in Ukraine or east of the Ural mountains or whatever?

Your knowledge in history is poor, and since not even the professors really know,
but just speculate about the Roslagen - Ruotsi - Rossija-connection, I don´t feel
any need to debate this with you, you live in your little paradigm and whatever
I say you will still believe in yourself and no one else.

I don't know...what does the fact that Americas were already populated before Columbus discovered them has to do with the course of history? It is an analogy in case you didn't get it.

    Yes, I know that, so?

And tadaa, how did this Ros come to power and how did they become so powerfull,
He was invited by the local slavic tribes to take charge of them.
and more interestingly, why did it happen in the same region where the vikings
had the power and not down in Ukraine or east of the Ural mountains or whatever?
Because those tribes who invited vikings lived there...?

Let me simplify and put it in perspectiuve for you:
Imagine Russia invades Sweden and completely takes over the country: destroys cultural heritage, forbids native language, installs pupet government, in short - completely russifies the country...

In three thousand years, people will look at Russden(former Sweden) and will think: what are the origins of that country - Russian or Swedish?...
    Do you get my point?

They can't have good schools in russian or the US when members here always mis-quote the names of forum-members they are arguing with.
