Any feedback on these boots: MEINDL Island, about 200€

I'm thinking of bying a pair. Wonder if it's worth investing that much money...

I need it for hiking in the Alps during all seasons and trekking.

I wanted the Softline GTX first, but they after trying them in a shop they don't seem manufactured for the loooong term.

    Any thoughts, suggestions?

As long as your doing no crampon work, you cannot get a better boot. make sure you get fitted right, and your onto one hell of a winner.

    Meindl Island.

I've been wearing them daily since they came out in '95 or so. I must have run through a dozen pairs of them. They are good to go as long as you won't be going into a high altittude environement. A little bit warm for summer, this summer I changed them for an Meindl Safari, I only switched back to the Island last week.

Ok so lets build some good Alpine style boots like ............Lowa/Meindl.

Yeah, lets build them with a rigid deep tread sole that takes crampons like.......Lowa/Meindl.

And, lets have a high rubber band as part of the sole and a GTX inner to make them more waterproof like............Lowa/Meindl.

And, lets use eyelets and hooks for fastening like ........... Lowa/Meindl.

Yeah, and we only want them to be around 8 inches tall to allow flexibility like ........... Lowa/Meindl.

Personally, I think I will just stick with my ORIGINAL handmade Lowa Mountain GTX that retail for £125.00 or Euro 200.00 and come with a bulletproof guarantee.

    This.

My Vasque Sundowner Classics have been working great for more than two years.

Just bought a pair of these:

Haven't tested them in the field yet, but they seem to be of very good quality.

I've got a pair of Belleville 600 boots.
And I think about buying Altama jungle boots with Panama or Vibram sole.
Does anyone know if the sizing is comparable to the Belleville boots?

I'm also considering to buy them when my others are weared out.
In the dutch army there the favorite, I know a guy who first bought some lowa desert boot because he had problems (feet hurt) with the issued desert boots, on his second tour to A'stan he whas issued meindl island pro's. He so much liked them that he never weared his lowa's again, he liked the meindl so much that he gave the lowa's to me, he didn't even consider to use both boots and switch between them from time to time.

My unit will never allow me to wear the LOWA ZEPHYER as a duty boot but I am going to buy a pair for off duty, give my Merrell Chameleons a break.

I have found the Zephyers for $185.00 (US) anyone find any better price?
