    Default Rocky S2V

Just issued a pair of Rocky S2V Desert boots and did a light ruck (about 2k) with them the other day in order to brake them in a bit. They tore my heal up quite bad. Has anybody else used these boots? And what are your opinions of them?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,

    Very interesting thread

I think about buying one paire of boots (belleville 550 or bates 25501), and I'm wondering about 2 or 3 things :
-how easy is it to clean : I will use use them for hiking/ruck marches, and there will be dirty water, mud ...
-what is better : waterproof boots or hot weather with liner (bates do it) to put in winter ? If I put a liner, do I need to take a half size larger (9 -> 9,5) or wider (9Reg -> 9Wide) or none ?
-I'm in France, so the weather is colder and wet (compare to Irak and Astan where the boot are made for). Do you think it's good boot or "real" hiking shoes are better ?

I read the thread, so I think my questions aren't repost. I hope they're not annoying too.

EDIT : when I mention liner, I mean waterproof liner like this

    thanks

hot weather boots have a vent holes so in wet cold weather it could be a problem. If there is no vent holes it is interesting variant, because you can remove lining and dry it very easily on open air. Real hiking/trekking boots have a great cushioning (no rubs) and better ankle support. But this kind a boot will dry longer than classic military boot (because its lining is simplier)

I am in love with the Nike SFB.

I'll use my Danner TFX GTX boots for the winter now. EVen though they aren't the insulated variation, they did just fine last winter with a good sock.

    Hi

I would like to know if anyone can help me identify this pair of boots:

The seller from the website told me he doesn't know anything about it.

    Also, can anyone recognise these?

The image is a screen capture from the anime series: The Eden of the East. The main protagonist (Akira Takizawa) is an homage to the Taxi Driver. He wears a M65 Jacket from the Vietnam era, and these boots. I would think that they are the 'Jungle Boots'.

I googled "vietnam jungle boots" and these were the results. What do you guys think?

Cheers people! That helped a lot. And yeah, I needed at least ONE confirmation... others I've asked didn't know what I was on about.
