I've had equally good experiences with Salomon - had their ski boots for decades and used their walking boots off and on since I worked in France.

Merrells are, in my experience, comfy but the linings tear and bits of the sole and rand come away after a few months hard wear.

I just got a pair of solomons over the holidays as walking around/hiking shoes...so far I like them but they aren't properly broken in or really used yet so time will tell.

I had a pair of the original Salomons with their speed lace many years ago. Heavy duty shoe that I ran, hiked and swam in. Several years later and six pairs ago , I haven't worn anything else. Fwiw, I worn the XT, , XD, and XA, With Goretex on the Mids. I just got a pair of the XA w ClimaControl , GTG!

good to know! i got a pair of XDs to replace my well worn blackhawk hiking shoes that I got on the cheap (oddly enough they lasted a pretty good long while, not too shabby)

No, the shoes are not wide, but if its to wide for you then you can get the woman version, believe they have a black and grey version, that one is a bit more narrow/smaller

Anyone have any experience with Adidas hiking boots? I've been a fan of their shoes and just recently found out they have a line of boots and I've found some for a good price.
