Securtiy Forces do indeed wear blue berets. They are so dark that they almost appear black, but they are in fact blue. You can tell by looking at one in sunlight.

There are no blue berets in the US Air Force, security forces wear black as well. As for the SERE's, they were recently authorized a separate "pewter-green" beret to add to their distinction.Originally Posted by FallenAngel

In Sweden:
Dark red = airborne rangers (fallskärmsjägare)
Dark green = army rangers (jägare)
Light green = amphibious corpse (amfibiekåren)
Dark blue = armour/mechanized units and units serving abroad
Bright Red = Musicians
Sandy = Homeguard (until recently sandy berets were used by units serving abroad)
I'll take your word for it. There aren't that many on my post that have berets (we wear the stylin' baseball capsOriginally Posted by USAF G
) so I won't be able to check any time soon.
Good call drunkard, the SERE guys are indeed, pewter-green.
And the cops do have blue berets, I don't like my ball cap they issue us, I still wear my camoed one. chAir Force Rangers unite!!

In Vietnam, SEALs assigned to MACV/SOG wore both black and camo berets, however to my knowlege berets have never been official Navy headgear.Originally Posted by USAF G

Sweden: I´ll try to give a better explaination than Thor did
Dark Green: Army cavalry units such as Rangers from the K4 regiment and the Airmobile batallion and recon batallion at K3. Also worn by the MPs at Livgardet in Kungsängen in Stockholm. Also worn by the Flygbasjägarna ( airbase rangers ). Also worn by the Livgardet Royal Guards ( not rangers ) so the dark green beret is not ranger specific.
Black: Armoured units at P7, P4, P10, I19 and P18. Also worn by the MOUT-soldiers at Livgardet in Kungsängen in Stockholm.
Red: Army mucisians.
Dark blue: Worn by the rest of the army soldiers such as Infantry, artillery, engineers, support/supply ( träng ) or Aerial defence. The badge shows which unit they belong to. Also worn by soldiers on international assignments with the Swedish army beretbadge
Brown: Homeguard along with the army beretbadge.
Maroon: FJS. Arméns Fallskärmsjägarskola ( Swedish army airborne rangerschool very simmilar to, but not quite 22nd SAS ) at K3.
Commando green: Worn by amphibious soldiers ( marines, closely related to RM Commandos ) and Kustjägare/Attackdykare ( Coastal Rangers/Attackdivers, simmilar to RMC SBS ) This beret is a heiratage from when Coastal Ranger officers went to undergo the commando training course with the UK royal marine commandos in the 1950s. The badge worn in the beret is the symbol in my avatar along with the anchor and chain.
No, berets are NOT used in combat umong Swedish soldiers. Only on the regiment grounds and when taking posing pictures in the field. In combat, helmet is used. On patrol or recon the fieldcap or a woolen cover ( olles brorsa ) is worn.
