the bi-pod is called a shooting stick...any hunting store carries them...The M14 has been in use in Iraq since inception....with more being supplied as we go it was replaced by the lighter m-16....theory was that with the lighter weapon and lighter round, you could carry more... Korea had shown waves of humans coming at our troops...This would allow a trooper to carry more rounds (ALOT MORE) and stay in the field without resupply for longer periods
