    Default Genuine USMC M40A1 riflestock

Gents, I've acquired one of these McMillan Fiberglass M40A1 stocks. McMillan took 100 of them back in trade from the USMC, since they are upgrading from M40A1 to M40A3 rifles. All 100 sold out within 36 hours of the announcement. Note the pictures are not of my stock, although mine is in similar condition:

    Cleaned up:

    Came with this certificate:

The floorplate is actually a two piece deal made from a steel Winchester M70 trigger guard and magazine plate. Each part has a serial number on it, since each was hand fitted to a stock (which bears the last four digits of the rifle's serial in the barrel channel).

Paid $200 for the stock and the steel floorplate/trigger guard. All pieces are perfectly functional.

For comparison, a new M40A1 stock fresh out of the mold would run $425 in the same config, $70 for the bottom metal, a gunsmith fee to have it recut to the proper length (since each of these was handfitted by Marine armorers at Quantico).

Thats great! When did they post them for sale?

Did you see some of those Barret M82A1 USMC rifles that were sold to the public? They were Desert Storm era guns.

Quite good for 31 years of age

They may have served the last days of the Vietnam War, Panama Campaign, GW1?
