Dutch troops kill 18 Taliban
not all that significant among all the other news but I suppose this is the first offensive action by regular forces of the mission so I guess it really is on nowDutch troops stationed in Afghanistan have killed 18 Talibanfighters recently. The action began ten days ago and has been concluded today.
The troops sprung into action because Talibanfighters were observing the Dutch camp near Tarin Kowt from a position high up in the mountains. There was an accute threat, according to general **** Berlijn, commander of the armed forces, at a pressconverence.
The action was executed with amongst other things F-16's, Apache-helicopters and a number of armoured vehicles. There were no dead or wounded on the Dutch side.

Apparently Taliban were observing Camp Holland near Tarin Kowt and a smaller camp near Deh Rawod from the Baluchi valley situated about 10 KM away. Together with OEF forces the valley was whiped clean of Taliban, Dutch commando's taking the mountain ridges and OEF forces the valley. No details about the total numbers of killed Taliban by OEF forces in the valley itself were given.
