Ellis stated that he wanted any film adaptation to be as far from his comic as possible (in terms of the actual product) his book is ultra-violent and not really as comedic, as what the film portrays. So I guess he may get his wish after all.

Tron seems to be pretty cool as well, with some developmental brilliance in the way the cyberworld is rendered vs the original Tron.

It would of been even cooler to have him work on an X-Men film (As his work on the Astonishing X-Men comic was fantastic) He is a real comic book fan and extremely talented. Apparently Whedon has confirmed that Nathan Fillion will be playing Hank Pym/Ant-Man, which just makes me even happier.
Yeah, I have Whedon's Astonishing collected in hardcover (from the beginning to the infamous space bullet incident). Good read on its own, even if one is not that much into mainstream comics. Besides, there is nothing like seeing Wolverine's mind reduced to that of a 19th century child.
As for X-men movies, I think Singer will do a pretty good job with this reboot. The first two movies done by him were decent.
It's just the following ones that we pretend never existed.
