Isn't George Romeros Land of the Dead a movie like that? During the movie the zombies are becoming more and more intelligent while in the same time the humans are getting stupid as a stump. Finally, they're not even able to throw grenades successfully. In my opinion one of worst zombie movies ever made.
The book on the iceman is about the serial killer this seems to be about a hero.The book gave me the creeps the guy was pure evil.
The Last Man on Earth actually fits the bill the best (The original movie based on "I am Legend" which was crippled of the decisive and important parts in the Will Smith version)
Okay it might be vampires instead of zombies.. but in the first film they are actually rather zombie-like and not too much like stereotypical vampires.
