[Sweden] Iranian changes name, converts, becomes proud nationalist
He is against mass immigration and is the top candidate for the Sweden Democrats in Växjö.
He fled from Iran as a political refugee 21 years ago. In his journey to become Swedish, he changed his name from Gharachorloo to Älgemalm and converted to Christianity.
- "I feel that I am completely integrated in the Swedish society," says 43-year old Samuel Älgemalm, earlier Mohammed Ebrahim Gharachorloo.
Samuel doesn't find the fact that he is an active Sweden Democrat strange at all.
- "It's not an anti-immigrant party. We just want to encourage immigrants to return to their own countries and roots."
He believes that immigrants who refuse to adjust to the Swedish culture and way of life should leave the country. At the same time Samuel states that most of them actually wish to adapt and become a contributing member of society, but that the current political climate makes this process difficult.
Among the most important issues for this year's campaign, he lists:
- Government's flawed integration policy
- Fight against the building of a mosque in Växjö
- Muslim world's cultural imperialism in the West

Pardon me? I have all my teeth. In any case, we at the Home Office do our best to behave and act like civilized human beings and look out for our citizens and try to do what is best for them. That said, we believe every British subject has the right to choose whatever religion, creed, and way of life they prefer. Our Muslim citizens and immigrants are an important part of our nation and as such, especially in these difficult times, have the full protection of the Home Office. The party supports freedom of religion. Their reasoning was explained in my post above, can you read Swedish? Or do you want a translation...
And how about Freedom From Religion ?
I don't think changing name and religion is needed. I would not trust a turncoat like him. Something is wrong when you change your name in the name of "integration" and abandon your own background. Learning language, respecting laws and getting a job is what is needed but that's it.
