Thanks Soutikghosh. Yeah, I heard about Agni 4 sometime ago to countermeasure against China and Pakistan, but I thought it was different from the Surya. Yeah, keep me posted about it. very nice guns and is the Tavor in service with the Indian Army yet and I also heard they going to start making AK-103 for the army and I thought the army was using the INSAS assault rifle. Also what system is on top of Il-38!

First AGNI-4 is not for Pakistan. It is China specific and Pakistan is already covered with existing missiles.
Second Tavor is in service with Indian Army special forces and special units of SFF. There are talks of AK-103 production to be started in India but they are not meant for the Army. They are meant for various Paramilitary forces, CI special unit of Army - RR and various State police.
Third the system on top of IL-38 is SEA DRAGON SYSTEM. Developed in partnership with Russia funded by India. It is for ASuW warfare.

Akash is undergoing last phase of user trial at Chandipur(Wheeler Island) missile test range. Limited number of Akash would enter service with the armed forces as the users are not totally satisfied with the range of the Akash missile system. It was originally designed to replace SA-2 and SA-3 in IAF service and SA-6 in army service but after long period of developement the concept, range envelope has become outdated. So the government and armed forces are following two ****ged approach one is to develope 2 different kind of long range Air defence missile systems in partnership with Israel and secondly to develope a Mk-2 variant of Akash with increased range and more refined system. Mk-2 variant of Akash has not yet been cleared for developement but is under proposal. Although present Akash would enter in limited number but other systems associated with Akash system are very successful and would enter service in significant numbers like RAJENDER PHASED ARRAY RADAR and 3DCAR RADAR.
Two missile systems developed in association with Israel are BARAK-2 with a range of 75-80km+(will be used by both navy and army) and LRADM(something like ARROW-3--NOT CONFIRMED) with a range of 120-140km+ will be used by army and IAF.
Now enjoy some DEFEXPO pics I took last month

MG3 operating deep behind enemy lines. lol.
Been a while since I last put on my ghillie suit and set my scope hence a tonne of questions.

So has the Indian army decided to adapt the Pallet handling System? We did conduct trials on this with IVECOs and Merc-s. In the end it was decided that it would be too expensive to shift the entire army to this so only Signals and Air Defence were given this facility based on the ACTROS platform.

Wont this creat balance and power issues? We faced these initially with the Al-Zaraar.

and is the Akash operational? When did this happen?

Excellent pix from the recent exercise. You classify these as APCs or IFVs.

Akash SAM is not operational, It's undergoing last phase of user trial.
    India classifies BMP-2 as IFV.
