I know that a couple of British SAS guys have been killed in Afghanistan/Iraq but their names/photographs have not been released.

In relation to the D-boys that were KIA it would only state "killed in a fire-fight" but that's about it...won't go into much detail for obvious reasons which is fair enough...

But I mean they still release their pictures and names...just surprised me.

I know that the British seem to be a bit more security concious it seems compared to the US...

Even when Brad Tinnion (Brit SAS soldier killed in the rescue of British soldiers in Sierra Leonne) only his previous unit was released and the British MOD would not go into anymore detail....it was neither confirmed or denied...something along those lines..

I found this while cruising the net

Sergeant First Class Trevor J. Diesing, 30, of Plum City, WI, died Aug. 25, 2005, from injuries sustained when an improvised explosive device detonated near his position while conducting operations in Husaybah, Iraq. Diesing was assigned to the U.S. Army Special Operations Command, Fort Bragg, NC.

its funny to me how most people think its such a huge thing for special teams to pullback from a engagement... intel isnt correct all the time, noone knows for sure what theyre walking into unless they have human intel on site...

most teams arent company size to be able to fight off an ambush... or a few hundred insurgents....

upsets me when i hear crap about "mog", 100 or so troops went in to pick up afew hvt's and crap went sideways... they ended up fighting the whole city...
so you have 100 troops against thousands and they did manage to drop off the detainees they left with... but still people call it a failure....
